World Alzheimer Report 2022 launch - Life after diagnosis: Navigating treatment, care and support
The World Alzheimer Report 2022 will centre on post-diagnosis support, segueing from last year’s report on diagnosis. The annual report will confront what is perhaps the biggest challenge facing the global dementia community today and will examine areas around planning, delivery, innovation, gaps, barriers and solutions.

Levels and quality of post-diagnosis support vary widely across the world, and the evident gaps in provision are leaving many people living with dementia, their carers and family members, without much needed support and services.

However, there are also exemplar models emerging in some countries, which the report will further examine by shining a light on innovations across the sector and offering solutions to what is an incredibly complex and challenging area.

During the panel discussion, we will be highlighting the report’s key findings and recommendations, and asking how the post-diagnosis experience worldwide can be radically improved.

Key areas the World Alzheimer Report 2022 will focus on:
• The impact of diagnosis on people living with dementia, their carers and families
• Medical, emotional and practical considerations during the varying stages of dementia, including for different forms of dementia
• Current and future pharmacological, cognitive and multidomain interventions in dementia
• The impact of culture and society on post-diagnosis support for people living with dementia, introducing models of care from across the world
• The importance of education and training about dementia
The report launch webinar will include the report’s lead authors, testimonies of the lived experiences, as well as of authors of expert essays within the report.
